Can anyone tell me why Bobby Vernon's real name was Silvion de Jardin, when his father was named Harry Burns and his mother was named Dorothy Vernon?

(And is that the correct spelling?)

Never heard how Bobby and Dorothy ended up using the last name of Vernon (perhaps it was her maiden name), but Harry Burns was Bobby's step-father.

Step-father, eh?

Does anyone know who his father was?

All I could find using 'Bobbie (Robert) Vernon' was the 1930 census for LA and two passenger lists, one coming from Havana in 1929 and another from Honolulu in 1926. Didn't find anything for the other names he could have been listed under although I only did a quick search, a more in depth one might dig up something. Finding these listings under Vernon though would imply he had legally changed his name to this, yes? No?

From these documents - Born March 9th 1897 Chicago Il.; parents, father b NY, mother Germany; living at 1510 Gemesee St, Hollywood CA; married to Angie, b Sept 13th 1899, St Louise Miss. both parents Italian; daughter Barbara b. 1921/2. They had a maid Marion Eduado. That's it, nothing new.

Found a Harry (Henry) Burns (as father) who's son fits with Bobby's birth date and place, but no Dorothy, he was the sheriff of Randolph County Il and married to a Mary - I think not... but stranger things have happened!
