Does anybody know where I can find a good filmography, including supporting cast lisitings? I've been watching many of his shorts and sometimes I'm uncertain about who is who. For instance, is that Mildred Davis and Eddie Boland in The Floor Below? Who plays the little person? Not knowing stuff like that just drives me CRAZY! Lol!

That is Mildred and Eddie, and one of the little people is Sammy Brooks. I have seen an 1891 birthdate for Sammy, but he seems much older.

From the Roach filmography I've compiled that will be appearing in Richard Roberts' upcoming book on the Roach studio films.

THE FLOOR BELOW * 1 rl PD:Hal Roach D:Alf Goulding C:Harry "Snub" Pollard, Marie Mosquini, Mildred Davis, Eddie Boland, Ernie “Sunshine Sammy” Morrison, Sammy Brooks, Gaylord Lloyd, [Ernie Morrison, Sr.] ©1-2-1920 LU14592 [ # H-12 November 5-8, 1919.] Syn: Snub and Eddie are henpecked husbands who finally get the gumption to stand up to their wives after a visit from grandpa .

The film was released on December 28, 1919.

Mildred Davis kept busy appearing in Snub's early shorts while Harold Lloyd was laid up for several months recovering from the prop bomb explosion that cost him some fingers and nearly blinded him.

Eddie Boland also appears in a number of Snub's early films before he started filming his own series in June of 1920.

The second draft is being worked on now. No publication date yet.

Hopefully when it's ready it won't have the same problem Wendy did with her book on Ford Sterling where the publisher kept the finished book backlogged for a year and a half before publishing.

Hi folks. I'm currently navigating through all the messages in this board, and this is my first post, so let me introduce myself. My name is Robert Demoss (you can just call me Bob) and I run The Lucky Corner website.

But now to my question, which is directed at somebody that has recently gotten many of them from me via email, Joe Moore.

Joe, in your cast listing for "The Floor Below," you list Ernie Morrison, Sr., in parentheses. Can I assume that this is an example of somebody listed in the Rolin payroll books for the period in which this short was shot, but has not actually been IDed in the film itself? The main reason I'm asking is because I'm wondering if the payrolls actually call him 'Ernie Morrison, Sr.,' rather than Joseph Morrison, which I think was his actual name.

Bob

Credits in brackets are actors that are not confirmed in the film. In this case it was a member of the comedy 12345 who believed that Morrison, Sr. was in the film but wasn't positive.
The senior Morrison was not one of performers who's name I ever went looking for in any of the payroll books so I can't say how he was ever listed therein.
I do know that the names of other actors were occasionally listed differently in these hand-written ledgers with sometimes nicknames being used and other times more formal names being used. Sometimes the spelling varied too.
One that comes immediately to mind was Margaret Joslin who was also variously listed as Maragret Joslyn and as Mrs. Harry Todd or simply Mrs. Todd.

Hi Joe... With all your work on the Hal Roach Filmography, what do you have on the early Snub Pollard short, "Looking for Trouble"? I watched it last night from the fine American Slapstick 2 set and must admit it's probably the finest print on that collection.
What I'm getting at is that I couldn't help but notice Paddy McQuire in the film, most notably at the end of the film, and barely an extra. Perhaps he had a gag in the film that wound up on the cutting room floor - or perhaps a scene that is missing from this great print (tho I think this print complete). So if Paddy's missing from your credits, add him; and let me know if he was in other Roachs' you - or any other si-com peeps - do know about.
Thanks Mates,

SteveR
